Our next FRM Newsletter guest goes by the name of Kenn Kyoto—born and raised in Joburg, 21 years of age. They’re a musician, like that is something he wants to do or at least the only thing they feel like they’re really good at. Kenn creates and half the time they don't know what they’re doing—and they guess that’s the beauty of it. He has a Cat and her name is Katana and he’s allergic to pineapples.

🎨🎭 Art

I go by the name of Kenn Kyoto—normally people always assume I got it from the character ken from Barbie which is funny to me coz I always have to say it’s with a double N. I watch a lot of anime I think that’s were most my style and influence comes from it’s kinda morphed into me even with the way approach my art as well. I want to go to Japan and like stay there for a year or two and learn something yk. My style is very simple like I said—very anime influenced like Soul Eater love The art style use and blend of colour as well Kill La Kill it’s wacky and Edgy too, and One Piece.

🎬👖 Fashion

Scott Pilgrim vs, The World that movie is everything to me in terms of style. Beat up converse, graphic Tees, denim jeans or corduroys. That’s pretty much me on a daily—sometimes nomads (homeless) kinda also inspire me I take from them.

🎸 Music

For the most part I’m a musician—it’s my first love and lately I’ve been going back in time and discovering new music that I missed yk. So I’ve been listening to so much Radiohead, specifically (in rainbows) and lots of Dean Blunt and UK underground DNB.

📚 Literature

I don’t read as much as I would like to mainly coz of time when I do get a chance it’s mainly philosophy so like currently I’m reading ‘The Denial of Death’ by Ernest Becker it’s really insightful.

📽🍿 Film

I’ve been obsessed with Taratino’s work older I get the more I start to appreciate the art form I got back every so often. One that currently stands out is ‘Death Proof’ the ending is so satisfying and I love the art direction and styling. Rosario Dawson looks so ill!!! And planet terror both grindhouse films I run em back to back.

🥗🍜 Food

I’ve been Vegetarian for 2 years now, so it led me to venture into new things like. I love Asian Food now, Like a basic Ramen would do the trick for me, pad mee, thai, Sushi ahh I could go on. I love croissants as well with coffee mostly cappuccino to be specific.

🎮🇯🇵 Hideo Kojima

This may be Random but I love Hideo Kojima. I hope to meet him one day and I hope to tour his studio in Japan. He’s so fu**ing cool and his like in his 60s rn.
