Panashe Ndhlovu is a 20 year old second year fashion design student, with the intention of making a career from styling. She started an Instagram styling portfolio, ‘styled by Panashe’, where she works with local photographers/models and styles them. She enjoys working with local creatives to construct a safe and fun environment for the creative scene in Cape Town – which is also a great way for herself and other creatives to network.

We welcome her to The FRM Newsletter to share what she’s been into recently!

🍿💅🏾 2000s chick flicks

Movies like Uptown Girls, Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, Wild Child, The Sweetest Thing, House Bunny are definitely comfort movies for a 00s baby. And although not made in the early 2000s, Gossip Girl, Big Bang Theory and Bojack horseman are also great shows to watch.

👢🖤 Platform boots, mini skirts & corsets

A must have in every girls and gay closet is platform boots! Pair this with a good black mini skirt + corset and you can make so many outfit combos.

🎵❤️‍🔥 Music that makes me feel like the main character

A girls best friend in music – Lana Del Rey, Melanie Martinez, Nicki Minaj and Mazzy Star. One specific song is ‘Say Yes to Heaven’ by Lana Del Rey and ‘Flowers in December’ by Mazzy Star.

🎧🎶 Headphones in!

A pair of headphones is essential for everyone because sometimes you just wannabe in your own little world and avoid unwanted conversations :)

🥟🍟 Foodie

Nachos especially from The Fat Cactus, greek salad and potatoes (in any form) and green smoothies is the way to go (not all in one meal of course). I would also recommend finding new places to try!

♻️👖 Thrifting

Thrifting online or vintage stores is definitely better that buying overpriced fast fashion clothing *cough* *cotton on* *cough*. If you live close to the CBD, I would recommend looking at stores in Observatory.

📱🧥 Fashion apps

Combyne is an app I have been using forever to create outfits with clothes I can never afford. It’s a great way to allude to your fashion fantasies. It’s also a great way to practice styling!

🍎🍇 A container of fruit per day

Have a container of any fruit per day, it’s just so good. I usual have at least 5 containers of fruit from Woolies every week. It also helps if you hate breakfast because it makes you 🤒.

💄💋 Makeup

Eyeliner is definitely the most important make-up equipment. You can just wear eyeliner and it would make the biggest difference to your appearance in a good way. Eyeliner and a good lip gloss is great if you aren’t a “big makeup wearer”. I love the essence Extreme Shine Volume Lipgloss and their Dip Eyeliner. And bonus point the Maybelline The Falsies Lash Lift Mascara.
