#50: Alex Michelsen (Prime)

This week we are joined by DJ & events curator, Alex Michelsen, who tells us more about the upcoming Prime events, lip balms that aren't Labello, having several flash drives at all times, and more.

Alex Michelsen is an events curator, entrepreneur, booker, social media manager, DJ, model, graphic-design-is-my-passion mf, retired #35mm photographer, content creator, fit pic philanthropist & aspiring Instagram bio creative director. Having created one of the most prominent, accessible and consistent brands in the history of Cape Town club culture with Prime, he is now aiming to do the same in Johannesburg with eventual plans in Durban and beyond. It’s safe to say, nearly 7 and a half years in, that this didn’t happen by chance (it did happen by chance). Aside from Prime hosting their ‘Prime Presents Blackout’ this week Friday, they’re also back in Jozi end of next month for ‘Halloween At Hallmark’; get your tickets here!

Despite everything Alex does, there’s still so much he wants to achieve and build with Prime as well as more work in modelling, doing more with his passion for photography, style, fashion and music outside of his current role; all while trying to get 3 consecutive nights of good sleep.

I usually carry this Barcelona 2012/13 away shirt on me. It sounds dumb but with gigs sometimes it gets incredibly hot/ sweaty so I’d always carry a fresh tee if I ever need to change from the one I wore during a set. That just happens to be the last shirt I packed.
